Has anyone ever taken metoprolol for high blood pressure? Hello everyone 2 weeks ago my doctor put me on 25mg of metoprolol for slightly high blood pressure at the doctor it was 160 over 102 but I’ve anxiety and panic attacks and when i go to the doctor it gets bad and that particular morning it was very bad anyway I’ve been taking my bp at home and it has been 140 over ninety through out the day. Anyway my question is about the side effects. I’vent had any aside from the past week I’ve felt like I’m having a hard time concentrating on things or remembering silly little things and because of the fact that im a super hypochondriac and have the anxiety disorder now i keep thinking what if its the metoprolol. My husband keeps telling me you thinking into it to much and your making your self think that your putting to much on your mind and thats whats making me forget or have a hard time concentrating. I also called the pharmacist and she didnt seem to sound to concerned she said if it last more than ten days to call the doctor. Anyway has anyone else ever have this side effect happen and did it go away or am i just thinking into it to much like my husband thinks thank you all so much and God Bless

Can any one tell me how the drug Atonal differs from telmisartan for treating hypertension? Although both these drugs are using for hypertension they’re from diffrent pharmacological category. Telmisartan is an Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker while atenolol is a Beta Blocker(Beta1 Selective). Beta blockers are a class of drugs that block beta-adrenergic substances such as adrenaline (epinephrine), a key agent in the “sympathetic” portion of the autonomic (involuntary) nervous system and activation of heart muscle. Angiotensin II receptor blockers are medications that block the action of angiotensin II, permitting the blood vessels to relax and dilate (widen), which lowers the blood pressure. Abbreviated ARB. ARBs are used to control high blood pressure (hypertension), treat heart failure, and prevent kidney failure in people with diabetes or high blood pressure. Since the ARBs have effects similar to those of ACE inhibitors, they’re often used when an ACE inhibitor can’t be tolerated by patients By blocking the action of the involuntary nervous system on the heart, beta blockers relieve stress on the heart. They slow the heart beat, lessen the force with which the heart muscle contracts and reduce blood vessel contraction in the heart, brain, and throughout the body. Thanks to their effect on blood vessels, beta blockers can lower the blood pressure and be of value in the treatment of hypertension.
